Communicating AI’s Water Impact through Public Textile Art (AIAI-funded project)

This work with Professor Heidi Biggs (Georgia Tech, Digital Media) critically addresses the impact of data centers on Atlanta’s local environmental, energy, and economic ecologies through arts-based research. We propose to commission three local artists to create textile artworks to communicate the local concerns and impacts of data centers. We will facilitate discussions between the local artists and local researchers who are currently working on understanding impacts of data centers on Atlanta in order to scaffold knowledge production and open avenues for possible future research. The project ultimately pilots community-based, interdisciplinary research agendas that center arts-based knowledge production and produces three textile artworks that will be shared with broader communities to foster discussion and raise awareness.
